Why I was so affected by the passing of Karl Lagerfeld

I wrote a piece.
Short one.
Based on the interviews and articles I scoured the internet for.
Wow I love this mans life. His brain. Also I thought he was sexiest at ages 40-50 and again at ages 70-83 (because by 85 he gained weight again, but, I would still love him) Can you believe it. Have you seen a hottie woman at age 75? Let me see the picture.

Anyway this is what I wrote. I want to update this post with all the great articles, interviews and videos I found.

quality was lost
there is no ugly vintage.
“bad taste came after, with the industrial era”
luxurious products are exclusive by price due to the quality of craftsmanship and paramount design.
when the quality fell, the talentless flourished, bad taste became the norm.
the beauty of well and long crafted pieces and objects vanished with
the new rise of modernism, fast food, minimalism, the attention civilization lost on object creation by an individual has caused a rift in the collective psyches concept of worth in a way that disconnects the self from environment. the cause and effect concept has become diluted and washed thin which diminishes the value of time spent reflecting the origins of our world while creating a simple meal from scratch, hemming a piece of cloth, to building an entire city.
the standard of quality has always been defined by luxury, but when money becomes disconnected from its origin luxury becomes distasteful and stale.

There are no pictures of Karl Lagerfeld undressed. Not a single one! I cannot find a inch of his skin apart from his face, neck, and hands. Amazing!

Plume Necklace - Feather Necklace

This feather charms necklace is excellent.
I love it.
Made it with lots of feather charms (two kinds) and lots of chain tassels made from ball chain and linked chain.
The metals have a slightly different tone and I've lacquered the whole piece so its finish is just wonderful.

ok first up. an eiffel tower necklace. surprise! im kidding. i think ive gone paris crazy over the last couple of years. probably due to buying french medal charms in bulk. i told alvaro ok i wont buy anymore paris themed charms but the next day i bought these gigantic eiffel towers! i never seen em so big. oops but how can one resist. the romance of the stereotype that is french. paris to be exact... this gorgeous necklace features oxidized brass charms, a thick long necklace chain, a bit of faux pearl chain, a pink rose and green leaf, some lace... oui oui..

here is a new style of the rusty bird cage necklace! this bird cage necklace features a lovely bit of vintage faux pearl bead chain (cherry brand made in japan, from the 20's!) a gorgeous dusty rose and little green leaf. So pretty and shabby chic!

a clean and crisp flower necklace. large cream colored rose with blue amazonite gemstone beads.. the flower is set onto a thick cast filigree setting... its absolutely gorgeous...

these envelope locket necklaces are available in my online shop right now (not on etsy)
they have been oxidized by me (or they come like that, you can tell buy the finish i think...the diamonds pattern came in the antique gold finish while the other two i did myself)
ive added birds to them, so cute, these birds make the now classic envelope locket so special. a tiny flying bird on one side, or in the case of the floral locket, two nesting birdies on either side...

this lovely design has a vintage black and white cameo of a mother and child (or is it an angel) clustered together with a wonderful 3D rose and leaf charm which i oxidized and finished myself. classic!

this necklace. it may not look like much (i didnt really take a good pic) but this yellow is super amazing. its that kind of acidic yellow. great for adding a splash of color to an otherwise neutral or muted outfit. best part of all its vintage Western German glass beads from the 1950's. this simple necklace goes great with black and white (stripes!) grays and dark colors. it pretty much goes with anything that it goes with, and id say thats a lot! i wore one for a couple of weeks and received endless compliments on it (most of them went like: oh what a great color)

this pretty necklace is one of my favorites at the moment. the details are wonderful. clean and ornate. ornately clean. pretty, feminine and just lovely.
a victorian style hand charm, a teardrop locket stamped with a rose design and a creamy flower charm made myself.

this pretty thing was inspired by all those british historical dramas i love to watch. mainly due to the sets and costumes. boys tend rolls their eyes when its my turn to choose a movie... how can you not appreciate all that detail on their clothing. back in the day it must have been insane. i saw the movie on that poet who died young and his girlfriend. (ugh see i really dont care for their names or anything, i just look at the clothes) anyway yes, the young girlfriend was considered 'fashionable' so it was interesting to see her victorian stylee dresses, glove details, mushroom collars and what not. i like. so this necklace = that. hehe

New Stock in Virgin Marys!

here is some of the new stuff i brought in earlier.

brought in one pair of the new image earrings..the only silhouette pair.. im going to make a batch of anchors, bows and silhouettes in different colors for virgin marys and will bring it in mid-next week.

some of the stuff in my online shop is now available at virgin marys. like the sweet escutcheon earrings called "Eternity" in my shop. cute little key holes for your ears... the large rusty bird cage necklace "Summer Song" and the mini bird cage and bird "Cloud Bluff", the charming bird cage and bow necklace "Spring Song" and a longer version of "Lotus Song" hmm lots of singing going on here ;D well there is a lot to be happy about! Sunshine, and lots of it!

these cat ones are so cute. i mean seriously nice ones. vintage settings, vintage mini flower cameos on leverback hooks.

vintage glass cabochons delft ships set onto a brass charm. ive changed the original hooks with leverback catches.

vintage cream roses and brass leaf filigree charms. on gold plated ball tipped earwires.

happy bananas! ive had these for a long time. i can not find these anymore at all! these earrings are vintage japanese cabochons with bananas. so cute. on gold plated leverback hooks.

lovely subtle floral earrings. on oxidized alloy hooks which i reformed. self oxidized brass settings with vintage frosted flowers.

the newest of the new news

oh my gosh its been soooo long since I posted last... so im going to try and make this post a long one, with pictures, and everything...

i just finished up an order for a lady in germany gosh it took me sooo long to finish but its done now and am caught up on the shipping as well. two orders for tomorrow.
also i heard there is nothing at briers now so maybe i will give them a call tomorrow to see if they want more stuff.

mmm. so the other night i went to see eriks show curated by charlotte at clack clack empire.

the show is called : When I Sit, I Do Not Care.

erik had made a really nice chair with wood and no nails. and a wall installation that was like i dont know, relating to that specific area of vancouver- its right near the jack chow building? i rememeber him telling someone and i listened for a sec but must have been eating brie and antipasto or something.

this is the lovely erin who owns the shop.

it was great seeing everyone and catching up...

soon ill get play wii ! i never have ! and a clothing swap is in the makes...

for halloween i didnt really get to do anything costume-y but i did go out had a nice party with ange and my new friend tana! who owns her own mineral make up brand @@ she is so big time working for the film industry here in van. swear!! she is sooo hype!!! i have to try some of her foundation coz i am done mine from pink quartz minerals...
