My coats almost finished
its making me anxious because I can't sew fast enough, because you have to sew slowly.
Damn.
I was going to make it buttons but im going to use a dual opening heavy duty plastic zipper i got years ago in dressew (tears)
so these are really bad pics. basically covered a coat with crepe and made a waterproof hood from a hood i found. water resistant. it had a fur inside part which im going to make into an outside part for another coat. also the sleeves are made of pants. and the inside part, the light blue denim, is also pants. i wanted black but i didnt have any fabric i wanted to use. my mind isnt settled enough to make patchwork from the available black i had (panel skirt)

this bottom panel for the pocket is crepe, interface, and polyester felt zoink! it looks great, though the rest isnt interfaced and you can see the plaid through the crepe which i find lol. also my crooked double stitching
sewing the zipper and then the bottom, and any other details. im getting anxious wish it was already finished it feels like its taken weeks due to lack of work flow and materials.

+++++++++
feb 18,
well the zippers in, it seams crooked - ha. i didnt iron enough at all
and i hate the light blue on the inside OMG i wish it was black. so dumb. im going to have to do something about that in the future. right now its just the sleeves and the bottom part and then i can take a selfie wearing it
or something.
my first coat had so many problems and they're never going to end until i finish working on it.
im already looking forward to making a second coat...with mild apprehension because i didnt copy the lining pattern.

Faux Fur Hooded Coat - reconstruction from long vintage coat

i have a new project
its ugh
cos faux fur bits everywhere.... omg

im reconstructing this long coat into a shorter one with a large hood.

so far ive figured out the scraps to make the hood. now i just have to find a suitable lining that i have enough of, theres a very soft cottony furry white fabric i got for doll making but white and cream...? i dont know.
and then i have to finish the bottom, the sleeves i want to but a jersey wrist band inside, and close the buttonholes and figure out a closure for it, maybe just hook and eye or magnetic snaps but i dont think those made it through all the tragic 2016 plundering

anyway heres the coat i cut the bottom off
started taking out the collar
then i measured the edge of the neckline and pieced the scraps together to form a hood shape
sorry its upside down. this was the first configuration but it was too narrow
 so this ones better
this is what the first configuration looked like
so hopefully the hood will turn out once i find a suitable lining

its pretty cold these days, winters delay wasnt for nothing
