My coats too small but it looks like this Karl Lagerfeld skirt

"Don't exercise ... there's a chance you will get hungry" - re: dieting #KarlLagerfeld

The coat i made has the same colour scheme as this awesome karl lagerfeld skirt, i even have shoes like that. but my coat is floral crepe(?) and a lighter denim with black.

my coats already already coming apart

i hand sewed the sleeves and bottom part

here i am no make up turning 40 in a few months!!! (edit - i have to delete the pic. im so ugly! wtf! i just found this pic searching my name on google and i gagged! lol!!!)

tried wearing the coat today and im already over it, its like an inch too small around my shoulder / arms so i want to make another one already using the pattern i made from it, but after seeing this skirt from karl lagerfeld im really stoked on my choice of denim on the inside and kinda wanna wear it for a bit. and also because it goes well with the only warm scarf i have left (black cashmere sleeves) there are other coats to refurbish but not any fabric or money. well all i need is black really. and a lining. none of my old clothes are around to reuse as linings etc, they all got stuck in manila and theres no way for me to get them sent or anything. hope my uncle and aunt dont throw my stuff away. really needed those memories intact. anyway i saw a picture of karl lagerfelds apartment and it was like ultra modern and read about his concept of making something so perfect then going onto the next, not living in the past at all, like his housing. and what surrounded him. he probably never had to do dishes or laundry or clean the bathroom or anything undignified like that, and thats what made him so cool cos he could afford not to... to be choupettes maid ! ive been going on and on about him on my aromatherapy twitter. i really want to smell his perfumes too. so many ideas i thought of and realized were his after reading more about his career... sighing.

i've been binge watching interviews and reading articles and summaries of his life and love it all. his quotes are hilarious.
and yeah, been very worried about the quality of the current clothing trend worldwide (the sweatpants quote)

what a man!

so ill take my time making my clothes because the quality will show. i didnt think this coat would turn out so well. damn its too small! of course i forgot anything you make well will look great!

My coats almost finished
its making me anxious because I can't sew fast enough, because you have to sew slowly.
Damn.
I was going to make it buttons but im going to use a dual opening heavy duty plastic zipper i got years ago in dressew (tears)
so these are really bad pics. basically covered a coat with crepe and made a waterproof hood from a hood i found. water resistant. it had a fur inside part which im going to make into an outside part for another coat. also the sleeves are made of pants. and the inside part, the light blue denim, is also pants. i wanted black but i didnt have any fabric i wanted to use. my mind isnt settled enough to make patchwork from the available black i had (panel skirt)

this bottom panel for the pocket is crepe, interface, and polyester felt zoink! it looks great, though the rest isnt interfaced and you can see the plaid through the crepe which i find lol. also my crooked double stitching
sewing the zipper and then the bottom, and any other details. im getting anxious wish it was already finished it feels like its taken weeks due to lack of work flow and materials.

+++++++++
feb 18,
well the zippers in, it seams crooked - ha. i didnt iron enough at all
and i hate the light blue on the inside OMG i wish it was black. so dumb. im going to have to do something about that in the future. right now its just the sleeves and the bottom part and then i can take a selfie wearing it
or something.
my first coat had so many problems and they're never going to end until i finish working on it.
im already looking forward to making a second coat...with mild apprehension because i didnt copy the lining pattern.

Faux Fur Hooded Coat - reconstruction from long vintage coat

i have a new project
its ugh
cos faux fur bits everywhere.... omg

im reconstructing this long coat into a shorter one with a large hood.

so far ive figured out the scraps to make the hood. now i just have to find a suitable lining that i have enough of, theres a very soft cottony furry white fabric i got for doll making but white and cream...? i dont know.
and then i have to finish the bottom, the sleeves i want to but a jersey wrist band inside, and close the buttonholes and figure out a closure for it, maybe just hook and eye or magnetic snaps but i dont think those made it through all the tragic 2016 plundering

anyway heres the coat i cut the bottom off
started taking out the collar
then i measured the edge of the neckline and pieced the scraps together to form a hood shape
sorry its upside down. this was the first configuration but it was too narrow
 so this ones better
this is what the first configuration looked like
so hopefully the hood will turn out once i find a suitable lining

its pretty cold these days, winters delay wasnt for nothing
